Following what is probably our best performance of the season – 1-1 draw with top of the league Goan I thought I would update the stats
We have finished sixth in the league – equal on points with 5th but a worse goal difference.
We have only been beaten twice by one team – Bank of England – second in the league.
We have played 21 games (sunbury was a walk over so does not count)
We have used 36 playersWe have scored 41 league goals (+3 in the walkover)
We have conceded 42 league goalsWe have used 4 goal keepers

We really have suffered with injuries this season… at least 6 players missing games due to them.

POMs awarded – a real selection!

Twice:Alan T Adie Ty Colin Jonty

Once: Phil Lloyd Joe Finny Alan K Nick Mike Dawson Ryan Shaun Dave Carl

Interesting facts:In the first half of the season no one won POM twice (ie different every week)

Chris, Steve and I have played most games and never won it (no sour grapes we just consistently play well !!)

Cards – oh boy this goes on a bit

Green Nick Spencer Chopper James Finny (twice) Phil

Yellow Ty Ryan Joe Lloyd

A few seasonal highlights from me:

Excuses for not making it to a game this season:

“I want to focus on my cricket rather than hockey”

 - what cricket? it’s the winter? – no names but did the card have any impact?

“sorry I didn’t make it or call to let you know, but I had a last minute corporate event on Friday and my mobile went dead”

- I think that’s called a p?ss up and a p?ss poor excuse!

“I just don’t fancy it anymore, no other plans just don’t fancy it”- I think he might have mixed me up with his girlfriend.

My Game highlights:

Beating Thames Valley 3-0 – a great game and everything worked

Drawing with Goan 1-1 – a fantastic way to end the season even though it cost me £35 for sports relief

Steve pretending to have touched the ball in the D, as it rocketed past him into the goal – great celebration but unfortunately the umpire was not convinced.

Spencer apologising for making a bad pass rather than blaming the receiver for not moving! – I thought it would never happen but the pigs have just been cleared for take off (sorry spencer!)

Alan Kingshot consistently turning out to be bombarded with balls despite living in another country (or is that county?)

The continual enthusiasm of our new players – hats off to Nick, Shaun, Lloyd, Ryan, Matt, Dave, and Darren – Great to have you in the team and look forward to seeing you next season.

Steve defending the honour of our sideline b?tches – nice one but remember you are on your own!

Thanks to all the umpires this season that have helped us out  - we couldn’t do it without you…. Let me know when you want your white sticks back!

Lisa Duncan Corny Wian Phil Hannah (– umpire virginity taken!)

Finally thanks to Finny for being my vice this season and for arranging sponsorship for our shirts – nice one finny! H

opefully you will all be at the dinner dance to celebrate the end of the season and pick up your award? or “coloured” drink?

Enjoy James
